Auction Announcement



For the very first time there will be a LIVE auction with Exclusive VIP items during the Gala Dinner on July 15th. There are some incredible lots, many with direct relevance to Buzz Aldrin and his exciting life of exploration and adventure.

The live auction, which comprises up to eight lots, will be orchestrated by former Christies’, New York-based commercial and charity auctioneer Charles Antin. Priceless items include extremely rare space-related memorabilia, some from the 1969 mission itself, with many items personally signed by Buzz. Other amazing lots have been donated by our valued partners and sponsors including:

    • An iconic Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch
    • An idyllic holiday in the Maldives. Buzz’s favorite place to scuba dive, with a stay at two of Soneva’s luxury resorts.
    • The spectacular silver bomber jacket by designer Nick Graham, worn by Buzz on his catwalk debut at the fall/winter 2017 show.
    • A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join an expedition to Mount Everest Base Camp and be part of the team attempting to host the world’s highest dinner party too!
    • Apollo 11 memorabilia from Buzz’s personal collection, stay tuned for details to be announced!

    The new silent online auction will have up to an additional 40 exciting lots and will go live on on July 5th, 2017.
    Keep an eye on the website for regular new additions, as not-to-be missed items are being added all the time. In the silent auction bidders could go to a Spicy Vines wine tasting in California, bag a flight in a British Airways Flight simulator and even send a personal pocket spacecraft to the moon! Iconic framed and signed photos from the Apollo 11 mission will also be offered.

    Along with the auction items, as always, the dinner table center pieces will be sold on the night of the gala. Only dinner guests will have an exclusive opportunity to purchase one of the beautiful, limited-edition Mars MOVA globes – amazing eco-friendly, rotating ornaments designed to replicate the surface of Mars – with special bases branded with the Buzz Aldrin and Destination Mars logos.

    All proceeds from the auction benefit Buzz Aldrin’s ShareSpace Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit education organization whose mission is to inspire children’s passion for science, technology, engineering, arts and math – and to equip them to become the next generation of innovators and explorers.

    With limited space, it’s recommended to buy tickets to the gala ASAP! Consider a VIP/Premium booking which includes an official photograph taken under the Saturn V rocket at the beginning of the gala, access to the after-show party at a nearby hotel and a private breakfast the following morning with Buzz Aldrin and other VIP guests. But hurry, tickets are selling fast. Don’t miss out – there is no time to waste!
